Y possibly another weekend to forget.
Lies.
I should have known.
My mistake.
It won't happen again.
Rejection.
Last minute cancellations.
Not sure how much more I can take.
At least this weekend I managed to have dinner with a close friend and a much needed chat with another close friend. Thank you.
I just need the courage...

Felt awfully deserted this weekend. Friends cancelled on plans. Everyone had something to do, even my dad. Stayed home, big mistake, but better than going out alone. Just waiting for everything to go numb.

Y yiting; taiwanese gangster.

Yiting's different looks.
Punk!
I got to know Yiting through Maple Story. He was still studying in Los Angeles then. We decided to meet up in San Francisco as the timing was just nice; I was going to visit my mum and he needed to be there to handle some family stuff.
It was really nice of him to bring me around San Francisco. Did you know that for his birthday, he brought Lynette and I to a strip club. So fun! Hahaha. I miss going for rides in his convertible and eating kobe beef at japantown!~
He's Taiwanese but studied here in Singapore, then in L.A. and just left for Australia. This smart guy got a scholarship at UNSW to do his MBA!
Why gangster, because he can pull off the attitude and he has the right connections. So don't mess around with him yeah! I've only seen him act that way in Maple Story when we're annoying the little kids. Hehe. But he's actually a really nice guy, loves going out and having fun with friends.
He absolutely loves chocolate chip cookies. He finished the whole container I gave him within a few hours. Haha. It's because of him that I got to know Lynette. So thanks a lot! Hehe. All the best for your studies and I'll see you when you're back at the end of the year yeah!

So adorable! Hahaha.

Y maple story.

Maple Story; Maple; MS.
Lynette. Yiting. Liana. Kenny jie. Kelly Ann. Ben. Katie. Willie kor. Ang CC. Ang CK. Kelvin. Steve. Huifang mei. Fiona mei. Kaixian mei. Kasther. Amelia. Caleb di.
Once upon a time, I was really crazy about the game. Mind you, there are quite a lot of people around my age that play the game. I got to know a few of them in the game and it became more of login to chat or to disturb the younger punks rather than to level up. We were quite a close knit group.
The main bulk of players consisted of Primary to Secondary School students. There are a lot of "ah bengs" or gangster wannabes, really childish actually. Not happy, they would challenge us to meet them outside and fight and they would claim to be from some Ang Mo Kio or Hougang gang. Seriously hilarious.
Their command of English was atrocious, not forgetting the vulgarities in dialect and the Singaporean slang. We need only talk in proper English for them to get totally confused at what we're trying to say. We loved our "verbal wars" 'cause those youngsters just never got it. Our source of entertainment when we're bored. Haha.
There are adults who play the game even. I've walked past LAN shops and noticed "uncles", possibly in their thirties or forties, playing MS. It's quite funny watching someone their age play a 2D cartoon game.
I've had the chance to meet up with some of my friends in real life and I'll probably try to meet up with the others if they ever come to Singapore. There was someone, I can't be bothered to mention his name, who was strongly against me meeting up with the friends I had made in MS. His belief was that online friends should remain online friends. It's a good thing I didn't listen to him, if not I wouldn't have made such great friends! I don't play the game anymore, but there are a few that I still keep in touch with.
Heh, playing games aren't totally useless and a waste of time. You never know just who you might happen to meet yeah. I've heard of people who met up, romance blossomed, they end up getting married and it all started through the game. But please be
careful and
safe about meeting people alright! Happy gaming!

Y san francisco; nov - jan.
This is long overdue, the photos from San Francisco. The first of my many travels, I hope. I went there in early November 2005 to visit my mum. Stayed for nearly three months. I touched down in Singapore a few days before Chinese New Year 2006. It was a good break for me, but there were times when I felt terribly lonely. Missed my sis, my friends, the local food. It's weird, but I really missed Zouk's Mambo too. Couldn't wait to get back and go clubbing. Haha.

It was full moon a few days after I arrived. The view was so
lovely, I just had to take a photo of it. I had full-length windows facing the valley. The lights at the bottom of the photo are from the houses in the valley. The train of lights in the middle right side are from the cars on the freeway. Yeah I could see one of the freeways from my window. Pretty cool yeah. You can get a clearer idea of the landscape from the photos below.

It was so quiet, so different from Singapore. The only noise you ever heard was when a car drove by or a plane flew over.

It's winter season roughly from late Nov to early Feb. San Francisco doesn't get snow, unless you go further north or up the mountains, but they do have fog late at night or early in the morning.

I would wake up really early around 6 or 7am, possibly coz of the cold, run to the toilet then back to bed and hide under the blanket for a few more hours. Then one morning in Dec, I looked out the window and saw this; the sun peeking out through the fog, the warm colours splashing across the sky, whole valley covered in fog, only the tallest trees showing on the surrounding hill side. It's amazing, a work of art. His creations are truly
m a g n i f i c e n t .
This was taken in the evening. Yeah that's the moon. You can even see the reflection on the river.

Another full moon.

My mum, me and my step cousin(is that correct or is it just cousin?).

Me, Lynette and Yiting at the Jap restaurant in Japantown that has fantastic Kobe Beef!!! You can't see Yiting coz he's taking the photo for us. Haha.

Yiting's beloved "yellow shooting star". Love his license plate!

Check out Lynette's boots!

I'll never forget; driving top down on sunny days, blasting techno and eurobeat, speeding along the freeway at night.

Celebrated Yiting's birthday in Jan. 24 years old, so old already! Hahaha. Ok I better not anyhow say, I'm not that young also. Bleah.

We had a Chinese New Year-cum-birthday-cum-farewell steamboat dinner before I left San Francisco.

Two pots. We youngsters handled the spicy stuff. Yummy!

Chinatown. Lynette and I bought that same pink Guess bag at different times. Great minds think alike! Hehe. I love that black JLo trench coat!

I love how the city is divided into little squares. There are a lot of one way streets, but its easy to navigate round that becoz of the square layout.

The most crooked street in the world.

Narcissist me.

San Francisco City skyline. My hair's a mess coz we're on a ferry.

Me and my mum outside a brilliantly lit house. The exterior is full of Christmas lights and decorations and the interior is full of dolls and toys.

The lovely neighbours. These were taken at their house on New Year's Eve.

They were having a party, but I couldn't stay for long, coz Yiting, Lynette and I were going to a Paul Van Dyk party! Absolutely love the top I was wearing, but you can't see it coz of the trench coat. So here are some photos of it. Hehe.

Front.

Back.

Eek, I look fat...

My mum's friend, Ken.

Look at the portions! No wonder I gained weight!

Last photo before I left San Francisco.
If you're ever in San Francisco, go eat at the Cheesecake Factory at Union Square. It's on the rooftop above Macy's. It's freezing at night, but you'll love the view and ambience; people hurrying from place to place, Tiffany's across the street, there's just something special about that place. You have to try their Godiva Chocolate Martini and chocolate cheesecakes, decadent!
I miss the weather, the trench coats and the boots! Haha. Miss my mum and her cooking, the friendly people, the fast cars, the silence and tranquility, even the cows grazing by the freeway. Haha.
I will visit again.

Y 5 things you shouldn't sleep with.
Please pay special attention to the last point. =p
DON'T SLEEP WITH WATCH
Watches can emit a certain level of radioactivity. Though small, if you wear your watch to bed for a long time, it might have adverse effects on your health.
DON'T SLEEP WITH BRA
Scientists in America have discovered that those that wear bras for more than 12 hours have a higher risk of getting breast cancer. So go to bed without it.
DON'T SLEEP WITH PHONE
Putting the phone beside your bed or anywhere near you is not encouraged. Though some of us will use phones as alarm clocks, please put the phone as far as possible. Scientists have proven that electrical items including mobile phones and television sets emit magnetic waves when used. These waves can cause disruptions to our nervous system. Therefore, if you
need to put your mobile phone near you, switch it off first.
DON'T SLEEP WITH MAKE UP
People who sleep with make up might have skin problems in the long run. Sleeping with make up will cause the skin to have difficulty in breathing and problem in perspiring. You will also need a much longer time to go into deep sleep.
DON'T SLEEP WITH OTHERS' WIFE / HUSBAND
You may never wake up again.
